Vietnam Luban Workshop Student AI Study Tour Concludes Successfully
From News Center (Text by Tang Yuqin, International Exchange Department (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Work Office) and the School of International Education; Photos by Feng Ziyuan, School of Electronic Information Engineering) A quadruped robot dog "walked" into the venue with nimble steps, instantly drawing applause and cheers from the audience—on the afternoon of March 28, the closing ceremony of the Vietnam Luban Workshop Student AI Study Tour at Liuzhou Polytechnic University kicked off in a joyful and vibrant atmosphere. The team from Hanoi College for Electro-Mechanics in Vietnam, together with representatives from our university, gathered to reflect on the week-long study tour and celebrate their achievements in learning artificial intelligence.
During the class review session at the closing ceremony, five Vietnamese students took turns to present vehicle design drawings they had generated using AI. Their creations included flying cars with wings, cool cars with robotic arms, futuristic new energy vehicles, and even a motorcycle incorporating the logo elements of both institutions. "I've already learned how to use AI to design the flying car in my mind!" At the closing ceremony, Vietnamese student Nguyen Thi Chuyen excitedly showcased her vehicle design drawings created with AIGC tools, earning rounds of applause for her presentation. Subsequently, Mr. Yang Xianing from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering invited students to demonstrate their programming achievements. Under the students' commands, the robot dog moved flexibly, walked, and performed rolls, executing each action seamlessly and bringing the learning demonstration session to a climax. In just one week, the Vietnamese students completed their transformation from "hearing about AI" to "using AI hands-on and experimenting with AI confidently," receiving training certificates in "AIGC and Embodied AI Technology Applications" issued by LZPU.
During their week in Liuzhou, the Vietnamese students not only acquired AI knowledge and skills but also visited the Liuzhou Industrial Museum to explore the city's industrial development, experienced intelligent manufacturing at Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor, and immersed themselves in traditional culture and ethnic sports activities such as tea art, tie-dye, and the silk ball toss. Through a combination of learning, visiting, and studying, they experienced the urban charm and industrial spirit of Liuzhou.
After watching a review video of the week-long study tour produced by our university, the Vietnamese students presented short videos they had filmed and edited themselves. Their footage captured moments of focused learning in the classroom, the lush landscapes of Longtan Park, the historical imprints of the Industrial Museum, and the vibrant atmosphere of Wuxing Street... Through their youthful perspectives, they documented their impressions of Liuzhou and their newfound connection with AI technology. "This week has truly opened my eyes. From AIGC tools to robot dog programming, every class made me feel the allure of technology. More importantly, I've come to know warm and friendly Chinese friends—these are memories I will always cherish," said Vietnamese student representative Le Van Tien Dung with deep emotion. Vietnamese teacher representative Pham Quang Minh remarked that the study tour was "a journey of technology and a journey of friendship," which not only introduced the students to cutting-edge AI technologies but also allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of Liuzhou's industrial heritage and local customs.
Mr. Qiu Fuming, Vice President of LZPU, shared his hopes for the Vietnamese students in his speech: "I hope you will take away solid and proficient AI skills, warm and unforgettable memories of Liuzhou, and sincere friendships that transcend national borders."
Since the Luban Workshop project was established in November 2025, our university has organized two training sessions for Vietnamese teachers and facilitated 19 Chinese students to travel to Vietnam for cultural exchanges. This Vietnam Luban Workshop Student AI Study Tour represents another meaningful exploration in student exchanges facilitated by our university through the Luban Workshop. In the future, the university will further expand cooperation pathways and enrich exchange activities, striving to build the Vietnam Luban Workshop into a benchmark for Chinese vocational education cooperation with Vietnam.
